Virginia man severely injured in interstate crash Wednesday in Charleston
A Virginia man was severely injured in a crash near the Interstate 64/77 split in Kanawha County on Wednesday that led to his vehicle going off the roadway and over the concrete barrier, police said. The incident was reported just after 4 p.m. at the Martin Marietta rock quarry under the interstate after a vehicle went off the southbound roadway, over the concrete barrier and came to a rest below in the quarry. The driver has been identified as 25-year-old Aiden Peters, of Christiansburg, Va., who suffered severe injuries, according to a news release from the Charleston Police Department. Police said he was taken to a local hospital where he remains in stable condition. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
