Heavy police presence follows Sweeten Creek Road wreck; officers were nearby on call

A heavy police presence was at a two-car crash on Sweeten Creek Road on Friday, July 10. Asheville police said there were already officers in the area responding to another call, hence the large presence. Two vehicles were involved in the crash. APD said no one was hurt, though the parents in one vehicle took their children to the hospital as a precaution. A witness says he saw a car speed around stopped traffic before colliding with a Tesla that was pulling out of the Hillman Beer parking lot. "And then I was checking on the folks in the Tesla that had gotten hit. And there was a father that had come around and he had three girls, his three children in the backseat. And the mom was crying and the girls were all screaming and crying," said witness Brian Fox. The cause of the accident is unknown at this time.
