18-year-old killed in scooter crash in Middlebury, police say
MIDDLEBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — An 18-year-old died after a crash involving a pickup truck early Saturday morning in Middlebury, according to police. Police said the crash happened around 12:30 a.m. on Middlebury Road near 480 Middlebury Road. Investigators said the teenager was riding a motor scooter when it collided with a pickup truck. The 18-year-old suffered critical injuries and was taken to Waterbury Hospital for treatment. Police said he later died from his injuries. The pickup truck driver was not hurt and is cooperating with investigators. A regional crash investigation team is working to determine what caused the collision. Middlebury Road was temporarily closed while investigators examined the scene. Police said no additional information is being released while the investigation continues.
