Woman crossing Central Square road struck & killed by runaway trailer
The Oswego County Sheriff's Office has announced the death of a Village of Central Square woman after a horrific accident on Saturday night, June 27. Deputies say around 6:45 p.m., a 2016 Ram 2500 pickup truck was traveling eastbound on East Ave when the enclosed trailer it was towing became detached from the truck and struck a pedestrian who was traveling westbound on East Ave and crossing the intersection with Gertrude Drive. The pedestrian, identified as Alice Visneau, was on a motorized mobility scooter when she was struck. Deputies say Alice was transported to Upstate Hospital where she was pronounced dead. She was 62 years old and a resident of Central Square. The pickup truck was being operated for Big Kahuna Rentals Inc. and driven by Xavier Izyk, 21 of Fulton, NY. CNY Central has reached out to the Oswego County Sheriff's Office to see if any citations were issued and are awaiting a response. Deputies say this incident remains under investigation.
