Man arrested after deadly hit-and-run crash in Lake Mary, police say
A 22-year-old man from Longwood has been arrested in connection to a deadly hit-and-run crash on Tuesday night in Lake Mary, according to the Lake Mary Police Department. The crash happened late Tuesday night near the intersection of Lake Mary Boulevard and Wheelhouse Lane, according to the police department.When officers arrived at the scene, they found someone – later identified as Danielle Akers, of Oviedo – unresponsive. Akers was pronounced deceased at the scene, officials said.Police said a suspect driver and vehicle were found nearby at Lake Mary Boulevard and Forest Boulevard. The suspect was identified as 22-year-old O'Vante O'Lan Redding, of Longwood.He was arrested and booked into the John E. Polk Correctional Facility on charges of DUI manslaughter, leaving the scene of a crash involving death and vehicular homicide, according to jail records.
