Wet roads lead to deadly crash in Washington County

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Mo. - A man died after wet roads caused a crash Friday afternoon in Washington County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. MSHP reports that a 66-year-old man from Mineral Point, Missouri, died in the crash. The crash happened around 12:20 p.m. Friday on Route M near Hedgcorth Lane. According to a MSHP crash report, "due to wet conditions," the driver's vehicle slid and veered off the left side of the roadway, then struck a tree. The driver was rushed to a hospital for treatment, but he was later pronounced deceased. MSHP Troop C, which covers much of the St. Louis region, is investigating the crash.
