Volunteer firefighter charged after crash on M-75 kills driver in Charlevoix County
CHARLEVOIX COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A volunteer firefighter with the Boyne Valley Township Fire Department is facing charges related to fatal crash last December. According to court documents Joshua Elzinga struck a vehicle that was pulling out of tractor supply on M-75. The driver was killed in that crash. Elzinga is charged with one count of reckless driving causing death and a moving violation causing death. Court documents state Elzinga was driving over 73 miles per hour and according to original reports was in his own vehicle and responding to a fire call.
