Motorcyclists crash into each other, leaving one dead, another critically injured

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- One person is dead and another remains in critical condition after their motorcycles crashed into each other early Sunday morning in Kansas City's Northland. According to the Kansas City Police Department, at about 3:45 a.m., officers were called to the area of Northwest 128th Street and Northwest Interurban Road, less than five miles northeast of the Kansas City International Airport, on a reported deadly crash. Upon arrival, investigators discovered that a Harley-Davidson Ultra Glide and a Honda CVR had been driving together on northbound Interurban Road, just south of 128th Street, when the Honda missed a curve in the road and hit the Harley. Both motorcycles then veered off the road, ejecting both drivers. The driver of the Harley was taken to a hospital with critical injuries. They are said to be in critical condition. The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither driver was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said. This is the 44th fatality of 2026 for KCPD. According to their records, this matches the 2025 fatality total for this time of year. Investigations remain ongoing. Police have not released the name of the victim who died in the crash.
