UGA Freshman Survives Severe Colorado Ski Accident, Suffers Traumatic Brain Injury
An 18-year-old freshman at the University of Georgia is currently recuperating in a hospital in Colorado after sustaining serious injuries in a ski accident during his winter break. Ayden Slipsager, a student from DeKalb County, suffered broken bones, a damaged lung, and a traumatic brain injury a couple of weeks ago. Despite the severity of his injuries, Slipsager remains optimistic, feeling grateful to be alive as he gets ready to undergo specialized treatment at the Shepherd Center in Buckhead upon his return to Georgia. The accident took place on an ungroomed section of the ski slopes, where Ayden was found unconscious by a passerby after his friend had been searching for him for over half an hour. Although the family is still seeking answers about what exactly happened during the crash, their main focus now is on his rehabilitation journey. Slipsager's determination to recover comes from his eagerness to return to his academic life and social interactions with friends. His loved ones are rallying to bring him back to Atlanta for rehabilitation at the Shepherd Center.
