Two injured in multi-vehicle crash on US 20 Bypass in Elkhart County
Two were injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Elkhart County on Thursday. The Baugo Township Fire Department responded to a multi car crash on the US 20 Bypass just before 1:00 p.m. When crews arrived they found a total of five vehicles involved. One vehicle had been flipped back onto its tires by bystanders prior to EMS arrival, while another pickup truck remained on its side. One patient was transported to a regional trauma center with moderate, non-life-threatening injuries. A second patient was transported to another area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency responders say, unless there is an immediate danger, such as fire or another life-threatening hazard, it is often safest to wait for emergency responders to assess the situation and stabilize the vehicle. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office.
