Trooper killed in off-duty motorcycle crash in Grafton
A 31-year-old Massachusetts State Police trooper died in a motorcycle crash over the weekend, the department announced Monday morning. Trooper Jacob Mick, a Northborough native, died in a crash in Grafton on Sunday, the department said.NewsCenter 5 went to the scene of the crash, which involved at least two cars and a motorcycle on Providence Road and Milford Road. It was first reported around 6:45 p.m. by the Grafton Police Department. Mick was pronounced dead at the scene, and the operator of a passenger vehicle was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Worcester County District Attorney's Office. "He was a proud Trooper and public servant who never hesitated to answer the call. We remember and honor Trooper Mick's years of service, and all he gave to the Commonwealth as well as to the Department," Col. Geoffrey Noble said in a statement.Mick was a graduate of the 88th Recruit Training Troop in 2023, the same troop as Trooper Kevin Trainor, who was killed in a wrong-way crash in Lynnfield last month. Before joining Massachusetts State Police, Mick was an officer with the Northborough Police Department and his mother was previously a public safety dispatcher for the town. "He was a dedicated public servant who made a lasting impact on our department and throughout our community," the department said in a statement. Mick was also a graduate of Algonquin Regional High School, where he played hockey, police said.
