Travel affected by snow, Colorado Springs Police Department issues accident alert

The Pikes Peak Region experienced challenging travel conditions on Sunday night due to light snowfall. The Colorado Springs and Fountain police departments implemented accident alert protocols in response to the weather, allowing drivers involved in minor, non-injury crashes to exchange information online. This measure is often taken during high call volume periods, such as snow storms, to manage the increased number of accidents. Multiple crashes led to the closure of westbound Fillmore Street at I-25. The adverse weather also affected travel outside of Colorado Springs, with traffic delays reported north of Monument and closures on I-25 near the Greenland exit because of a crash. Additionally, I-70 in the high country faced multiple closures due to accidents on Sunday.
