One killed in high-speed motorcycle crash in Independence Wednesday
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A motorcyclist is dead after a high-speed crash early Wednesday morning in Independence. According to the Independence Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area of U.S. 24 Highway and Duvall Avenue just before 1 a.m. after receiving a call from a witness. When officers arrived, they found a man off the roadway near a motorcycle and began life saving measures. EMS arrived and took over, but medics were not able to save the motorcyclist. The person was pronounced dead just before 1:30 a.m. Police said the motorcyclist was heading westbound on U.S. 24 Highway and lost control of the motorcycle. IPD said speed appears to be a contributing factor in the crash. The name of the motorcyclist has not been released at this time.
