1 killed, 1 hospitalized in wrong-way crash near Brownsville: DPS

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a wrong-way crash that killed a Brownsville woman on Wednesday morning. The crash occurred at approximately 8:52 a.m. on FM 511, south of State Highway 48 in Cameron County. Aglae Yunuen Patino, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene. A preliminary investigation found that a 2020 Red Kenworth tow truck was traveling northbound on FM 511 when the crash occurred. A 2007 Silver Toyota Scion was traveling southbound on the wrong side of the road when it collided head-on with the Kenworth, according to DPS. DPS said that Patino was the passenger of the Silver Toyota vehicle. The driver of the Toyota was taken to the Harlingen Valley Baptist and remains in stable condition. The condition of the tow truck driver is unknown at this time.
