Suspected DUI driver causes deadly collision in Placer County
(FOX40.COM) — One person died and two others were injured in a crash Saturday night in Placer County, just east of Auburn, that was caused by a suspected DUI driver, the California Highway Patrol said. Around 5:45 p.m. a head-on crash involving a Toyota Corolla and a Toyota Tacoma occurred on Foresthill Road between Lincoln Way and Old Foresthill Road, according to CHP. The front passenger of the Corolla was declared dead at the scene, while the driver suffered major injuries and was taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital for treatment. An approximately two-years-old child in a car seat was uninjured, CHP said. Officers determined the Tacoma driver was at fault for the collision and is suspected of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The driver was arrested and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of moderate to major injuries, CHP said. The roadway was fully reopened by noon Sunday.
