Side-by-side crash claims life of 28-year-old in Daviess County

DAVIESS COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — One person is dead, and another is in custody for intoxicated driving after a fatal side-by-side crash in Daviess County Thursday night. The accident happened around 10:30 p.m. Thursday on County Road 450 South. The Daviess County Sheriff's Office said the accident involved a side-by-side rolling over and pinning one of the passengers underneath the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, Miranda Knepp, 31, of Washington, told deputies she had swerved to miss an oncoming vehicle, causing her to lose control. The side-by-side then rolled onto its passenger side and slid several yards off the roadway. The passenger in the vehicle, Israel Waggoner, 28, of Washington, was pronounced dead on the scene. The sheriff's office said both occupants were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. After submitting a chemical test, Knepp was taken into custody and charged with one count of OVWI causing death.
