70-year-old dies after crash in Carroll County, VSP says
Virginia State Police (VSP) said a 70-year-old died after a crash in Carroll County. VSP said they are investigating a fatal single vehicle crash that occurred on Saturday at 2:42 p.m. on Interstate 77 northbound at the four-mile marker in Carroll County. According to VSP, a 2005 Coachman Encore recreational vehicle was travelling northbound on Interstate 77 when it lost control, ran off the right side of road, and struck the guardrail. A passenger in the vehicle, Gretchen H. Karcher, 70, of Versailles, Pa., was ejected and died at the scene, VSP said. Versailles, Pa., was not injured, according to VSP. The crash remains under investigation, VSP said.
