Two injured after vehicle crashes into Richland Township business
Two people were taken to the hospital after a vehicle crashed into a business along Scalp Avenue in Richland Township late Monday morning. According to emergency officials, the crash happened around 11 a.m. in the 1200 block of Scalp Avenue when a vehicle struck and entered the front of Smoker's Square Smoke Shop. Emergency officials said two occupants of the vehicle were transported to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Their conditions were not immediately available. Sources at the scene told 6 News that no one inside the business was injured. The crash caused significant damage to the storefront. Officials said a structural engineer will be needed to assess the building before it can be determined whether the structure is safe. Authorities have not released information on what caused the vehicle to crash into the business. Richland Township police are investigating the crash as a possible DUI incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
