Police release name of motorcycle rider killed in crash on Father's Day
The New York State Police have released the name of a motorcycle passenger who was killed in a crash on Father's Day in Marcellus. The state police identified the deceased as Karyn R. Stratton, 55, of Farmington, N.Y. She was taken to Upstate University Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. A 55-year-old man, also from Famrington, sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash. Emergency crews responded to the crash at the intersection of U.S. Route 20 and Slate Hill Road around 10:10 a.m. on June 21. The police said a preliminary investigation found that an 18-year-old from Chaumont was driving a 2024 Subaru northbound on Slate Hill Road and had stopped at the intersection with Route 20. Police said the driver then entered the intersection and failed to yield the right-of-way to an eastbound 2014 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, causing a collision. Tickets or charges for the driver of the Subaru were not announced. State Police were assisted at the scene by the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, Marcellus Police Department, Marcellus Ambulance, and Marcellus Fire Department.
