Prayer vigil for teens who died in Frisco sled accident

Members of the Wakeland High School community in Frisco are coming together to remember and honor the two teenage girls who tragically lost their lives in a sledding accident. Families of 16-year-olds Elizabeth Angle and Grace Brito have organized a prayer vigil scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday at St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Frisco. While a vigil at Wakeland High School had initially been planned for Thursday morning, it was canceled due to the school's closure caused by icy conditions. The accident occurred when the two friends were sledding, being pulled by a Jeep, and sadly collided with a tree after hitting a curb. Both Angle and Brito sustained critical injuries, with Angle passing away shortly after reaching the hospital and Brito passing away on Tuesday. The Brito family shared loving words about Grace's selfless nature and her decision to be an organ donor, emphasizing her compassion for helping others. Angle's mother described her daughter as a source of light and bravery. The Frisco Police Department is investigating the incident and is urging the community not to believe any false information circulating online, clarifying that there was no involvement of alcohol in the collision. Additionally, a senior from Ponder High School, Caden Nowicki, is in critical condition after a sledding accident involving an ATV, and the school district is collecting food gift card donations to support the Nowicki family.
