Possible connection between racing and fatal crash on 10 Freeway

A SigAlert was issued for the eastbound lanes of the 10 Freeway in the Mid-City area following a fatal multi-car collision. California Highway Patrol officials reported that the incident occurred before 2 a.m. between Fairfax and La Brea avenues. Witnesses suggested that a gray Honda Civic and a dark gray Infiniti G35 might have been racing prior to the accident. Another vehicle, described as a Lexus, was also involved in the crash. Emergency responders arrived to find one person deceased and two others treated at the scene. Although the freeway was temporarily closed, one lane has since reopened, but delays are anticipated. Drivers should consider alternate routes due to the congestion. According to a witness, the Honda driver, possibly trying to assist others, was struck when stepping out of the vehicle after the initial collision. The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed, and the cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
