Police chase in Commerce City ends in rollover crash after armed robbery

DENVER (KDVR) — Police are investigating a robbery in Commerce City that led to a chase on Interstate 70 and a rollover crash early Monday morning. The Commerce City Police Department said this started as an armed robbery at the 6110 block of Oneida Street. Seven men and a woman in two cars allegedly robbed several individuals at gun and knifepoint. They forced them to open their car and stole items before driving away. Police were on the scene after the robbery to interview the victims when the vehicles came back, leading to a police chase on Interstate 70. Police said the vehicles were speeding when one vehicle got away, while the other exited at Pecos and then crashed into a retaining wall. The Denver Police Department said it was investigating the rollover crash near West 48th Avenue and North Pecos Street just before 4 a.m. The crash sent three people with serious injuries to the hospital. FOX31's Kasia Kerridge is on the scene where there is shattered glass and a shoe on the ground. Police said all three people were in critical condition. At this time, the westbound ramp from I-70 onto Pecos Street and Frontage Road is closed. Denver police are still investigating the crash, while Commerce City police are investigating the aggravated robbery and looking for the second vehicle. Police said they have a description of the vehicle but haven't released the details yet.
