Colorado Springs woman identified in fatal I-70 crash
MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) - The Colorado Springs woman who died in a head-on crash Monday on U.S. Interstate 70 near the Colorado-Utah border has been identified. The Mesa County Coroner's Office announced on Wednesday that Briana Brink, 32, was driving her car in the wrong direction, which resulted in a collision with another vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her autopsy has been completed, and her death was due to the injuries she received in the collision. Five people, all out of Thornton, were in the other vehicle that was involved in the crash. The occupants, which included at least two children, were transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, according to the Colorado State Patrol. An update on their condition was not provided when WesternSlopeNow reached out Wednesday. CSP stated the investigation suggests the Colorado Springs woman was driving a Subaru Outback eastbound in the westbound lanes on I-70. A Ford F150 that was traveling west was struck head-on by the Outback, which went down the embankment off the left shoulder. Brink's vehicle rolled onto its driver’s side and caught fire.
