Pickup truck driver has medical emergency, hits Taylorville Casey’s in 3-car accident

TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) -- A pickup truck driver hit a Taylorville Casey's and two other cars Tuesday morning after suffering a medical emergency. Two people were hospitalized and the driver was cited. Taylorville Police Chief Dwayne Wheeler told WCIA that the department received a call at 8:58 a.m. regarding a three-car accident in which a pickup truck hit the Casey's at 401 North Cheney Street. Chief Wheeler said the driver of the pickup truck suffered a medical emergency during this incident. He said the two people in the pickup truck that hit the Casey's were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. They were transported by Dunn's Ambulance. Chief Wheeler added that the driver of the pickup truck was issued a citation during the incident but was not able to say for what at this time as the case report is still ongoing. No arrests were made. The scene was cleared at 9:45 a.m. and there are no damage estimates available at this time to the three cars involved or the Casey's. Taylorville Police, Taylorville Fire and Dunn's Ambulance all responded to the scene of this incident.
