Person loses legs during boating accident at Bear Lake
BEAR LAKE COUNTY, Idaho (ABC4) — Multiple people were life flighted and a boating accident resulted in a double amputation at Bear Lake over the weekend. According to the Bear Lake County Sheriff's Office (BLCSO), they responded to several emergency calls over the weekend, including several serious calls that happened within a few minutes of each other. One of the calls was a boating accident in a which an individual had a double amputation of their legs and had to be life flighted from the scene. BLCSO says, "Bystanders and medics did an amazing job with medical care prior to transport." Around the same time, officials responded to a child locked inside a vehicle while temperatures were over 90 degrees and another call for a sinking boat that had people on board. Fortunately, the child and all boat passengers were rescued and are safe. Over the rest of the weekend, BLCSO officials also responded to multiple medical calls, and vehicle crashes. One of the vehicle crashes resulted in severe injuries, with the victim being life flighted from the scene. The current condition of the life flighted individuals have not been released. BLCSO said, "A big thank you goes out to all the responders and other agencies that assisted us with all of these calls."
