One dead after multivehicle crash on I-195 in Westport
A man died after a multivehicle crash Monday on Interstate 195 in Westport, Massachusetts, officials said. Massachusetts State Police received multiple 911 calls at 3:20 p.m. reporting a serious motor vehicle crash involving three vehicles the westbound side of the highway. Upon arrival, police found an Audi in the right lane with front end damage and a Chevy Silverado in the tree line with catastrophic damage. A third vehicle, a green BMW had fled the scene, police said. The driver of the Audi was uninjured and remained at the scene to speak to police. The driver of the Chevy Silverado, identified as 64-year-old Mario Carreiro, of Fairhaven, was found seriously injured outside his vehicle. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The crash remains under investigation.
