Manistee teen killed in Mason County crash
MASON COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- An 18-year-old Manistee woman died Monday night after her vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree in Mason County. The Mason County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of an 18-year-old Manistee woman. Deputies said the crash happened at approximately 10:31 p.m. Monday on Countyline Road, west of Red Apple Road, in Grant Township. According to the sheriff's office, the woman was driving a 2001 Saturn westbound on the dirt portion of Countyline Road when she lost control of the vehicle. Investigators say the car slid sideways into the south ditch and struck a tree. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The Manistee County Sheriff's Office, Little River Band of Ottawa Indians Tribal Police, Grant Fire Department and Life EMS assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation by the Mason County Sheriff's Office.
