NSP: Dust storm leads to 16-car crash that killed one man near Brule
An Iowa man is dead, and five others were sent to the hospital after a crash along Interstate 80 in Western Nebraska Saturday night, according to the Nebraska State Patrol.The crash happened just after 5 p.m. MT near Brule. The preliminary investigation shows that a dust storm occurred in the area, leading to a crash involving 16 cars. The Nebraska State Patrol said several of those cars caught fire.A 56-year-old man from Iowa was pronounced dead at the scene. Five others were taken to the hospital with serious injuries, one of which is considered life-threatening.Both directions of Interstate 80 were closed until around 3 a.m. MT.
