Motorcyclist killed in fatal Owego intersection crash - WIVT
OWEGO, N.Y. – New York State Police have confirmed that a motorcyclist was killed early Wednesday morning following a two-vehicle collision involving the SUV at a Tioga County intersection. According to State Police, the Tioga County 911 Center dispatched troopers at approximately 3:52 a.m. to the intersection of State Route 434 and Forest Hill Road in Owego. Once at the scene, first responders performed life-saving measures, but the driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have yet to release the victim’s identity. Investigators state the driver was traveling on Forest Hill Road at the intersection on Route 434, when they failed to see the oncoming motorcycle, causing the crash. The driver of the SUV is cooperating with state police and was transported to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City for evaluation and medical treatment. State Route 434 was closed in both directions for several hours near Forest Hill Road with a detour set up at Marshland Road, but the highway has since reopened. The investigation remains open and ongoing.
