Pedestrian fatally struck by vehicle in Mira Mesa
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A 60-year-old man was killed early Saturday after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in Mira Mesa, authorities said. According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident unfolded shortly before 4 a.m. in the 10550 block of Camino Ruiz. Police say the pedestrian was crossing the roadway from west to east at mid-block, outside of a marked crosswalk, when he entered the path of a southbound 2008 Honda Accord traveling in the right lane. The vehicle collided with the man at that time. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was not immediately released. The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation, though police said driving under the influence was not a factor in the crash.
