Man faces homicide by vehicle charges after double-fatal crash in Berks County
Two people were killed in a three-vehicle crash in Robeson Township on Friday morning, the Berks County coroner confirmed. Jose A. Cuevas Sosa, 18, and Jose E. Uribe Duarte, 20, both of Reading, were pronounced dead at the scene, Coroner Matthew Stitzel said in a release. The crash occurred around 6 a.m. on I-76 south in Robeson Township. The driver who's accused of causing the crash is now facing homicide by vehicle charges. According to police reports obtained by WFMZ , Paul Villenueva, of Coatsville, collided with Sosa and Duarte's vehicle and caused it to go airborne. Their car then landed upside-down in a nearby creek, police said. The 21-year-old who was driving that car suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Villenueva, 44, faces two counts of homicide by vehicle and three counts of aggravated assault by vehicle, among related offenses. He posted bail and is now waiting his preliminary hearing on Aug. 4. Coroner Stitzel said autopsies are scheduled for next Monday. Pennsylvania State Police is investigating the crash.
