Man killed, three others injured in construction accident in Rich County
RICH COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — One person was killed, and multiple others were injured during a construction accident in the Monte Cristo Area. According to the Rich County Sheriff's Office (RCSO), they received a 911 text around 11:02 a.m. The text reported that a construction worker was trapped beneath roof trusses at a cabin under construction in the Wasatch Ridge area of Monte Cristo. The construction contractors were reportedly installing the trusses when a sudden gust of wind knocked two workers off the roof and pinned another beneath a roof truss. A 56-year-old male construction worker was injured and died as a result of his injuries. Additionally, three others were injured. A 42-year-old male was critically injured and air-lifted to the hospital, a 29-year-old male was transported by ground ambulance to the hospital, and a fourth individual, whose age was not released, was also treated for injuries due to the incident. At this time, officials have not released the identities of any of the individuals. The RCSO stated that it "extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and coworkers of the deceased, as well as to all those affected by this tragic accident." Additionally, RCSO thanked those who assisted on scene, including personnel from Woodruff EMS, Randolph EMS, Weber County, Utah Department of Natural Resources, and the Weber County Sheriff's Office.
