Man dies in Upstate crash after attending funeral, according to coroner
A man returning from a funeral in Anderson County, South Carolina, tragically lost his life in a crash on Tuesday afternoon, as confirmed by the county coroner. The incident occurred on U.S. Highway 29 close to Forest Lawn Memorial Park at approximately 1:38 p.m. The vehicle, operated by Dwayne Stegall, 73, was traveling north on Highway 29 when it collided with a stationary car near Cox Road. Subsequently, Stegall's vehicle veered into the path of a tractor-trailer. Following the crash, Stegall was airlifted to a hospital in the Greenville area where he sadly passed away shortly after. The coroner mentioned that Stegall was on his way back from a family member's funeral at the time of the accident. The driver of the car that was hit by Stegall was taken to AnMed Health for medical care.
