Livingston trustee among two hurt in March 31 crash
Two people were taken to a hospital after a March 31 crash at Illinois 140 and 159, according to a release from Illinois State Police. The crash happened just after 8:35 a.m. Illinois State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash involving a farm truck hauling grain and a passenger vehicle. The roadway reopened just after 12:30 p.m. The release said the crash remains under investigation. Jim O’Brien, chief of the Holiday Shores Fire Department, said each vehicle had one occupant. Both were taken to the hospital. He said the man in the grain truck was taken to the hospital as a precaution because of the severity of the crash. “The gentleman in the (other) car sustained multiple, significant injuries that would have put him in serious condition,” O’Brien said. He said the passenger vehicle appeared to have swerved into oncoming traffic, based on the police report. Livingston Mayor Rich Kovaly said one of those injured was a Livingston trustee.
