KSP: 2 dead after head-on crash occurs on AA Highway in Bracken County
Police in Kentucky are investigating a head-on crash that left two people dead in Bracken County on Saturday.According to the Kentucky State Police, the crash occurred on the AA Highway near the intersection with Dutch Ridge Road.Police say that the crash is believed to have occurred when a 2004 Ford SUV crossed the road's median in an attempt to pass another vehicle as both were headed westbound on the highway.However, while doing so, the SUV struck a 2024 Kia that was traveling in the opposite direction, with the collision killing both passengers inside the Kia.The two occupants of the vehicle have since been identified as Tyler Smith and Emily Smith, both residents of Bracken County. They were pronounced dead at the scene by the Bracken County Coroner's Office.Meanwhile, the driver of the SUV was transported to University of Kentucky Medical Center for injuries that he sustained during the crash.Kentucky State Police says that they are continuing to investigate the incident. The department was assisted at the scene by Bracken County Emergency Medical Services, the Bracken County Fire Department, the Bracken County Sheriff's Office, and the Bracken County Coroner's Office.There is no word yet on if the driver of the SUV is expected to face any charges for his role in the crash.
