Jackknifed tractor-trailer on I-70 in Washington County shuts down lanes near Clear Spring Road

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- An early morning tractor-trailer crash on Interstate 70 closed all westbound lanes near Clear Spring Road on Thursday. According to Maryland State Police, troopers responded to the area of westbound I-70 near mile marker 20 shortly before 6 a.m. for a tractor-trailer reportedly involved in a crash. At the scene, troopers learned that the 18-wheeler was traveling west when it went off the roadway. The driver tried to correct, but the vehicle jackknifed across all lanes and spilled fuel, state police said. No injuries were reported. In an alert shared to social media at 5:40 a.m., officials said the crash closed all westbound lanes in the area, before exit 18 leading to Clear Spring Road (MD 68).
