I-65 shutdown caused by police pursuit crash
INDIANAPOLIS — Northbound Interstate 65 was completely closed on the city's northwest side after a police pursuit ended in a crash. An alert by the Indiana Department of Transportation listed all northbound lanes as closed just north of 71st Street. Traffic was diverted off the interstate and onto 71st Street. Roughly an hour later, the interstate was reopened and the scene cleared. According to the Indiana State Police, the single-vehicle crash was the result of a police pursuit. The vehicle was fleeing from police officers when it crashed near mile marker 127. The sole occupant was injured but is said to be in stable condition. ISP said no officers were injured. No further details have been provided at this time.
