First deadly accident of 2026 in East Side neighborhood of Chicago
Chicago law enforcement officials stated that the first fatal accident of the year took place in the East Side neighborhood on Thursday morning. According to initial findings, a gray GMC SUV collided with a pole while moving along the 3400 block of East 95th Street around 5 a.m. The driver left the scene, but a 38-year-old woman who was a passenger suffered severe injuries to her head and body. She was rushed to a local hospital, where she was later declared deceased. Authorities have confirmed that no additional injuries occurred, and the Major Accidents Unit is currently conducting an investigation into the incident.
