Man charged with murder after fatal crash in Taylor hospital parking lot
A Spring man has been charged with murder after allegedly striking and killing a pedestrian in a hospital parking lot in Taylor on Friday and then fleeing the scene, police said. The Taylor Police Department said officers responded to reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at approximately 10:15 a.m. in the parking lot of Scott and White Hospital, located at 305 Mallard Lane. ALSO | Unarmed teen fatally shot by Austin officers in suspected 'suicide by police' Officers found the pedestrian, identified as James Killough, 81, of Taylor, with life-threatening injuries. Despite lifesaving efforts by hospital staff, Killough was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Jesse Jackson, 43, of Spring, left the scene after the crash, according to police. Officers later located him in the 2700 block of North Drive. Following an initial investigation and consultation with the Williamson County District Attorney's Office, Jackson was arrested and charged with murder, police said. The crash remains under investigation by the Taylor Police Department with assistance from the Williamson County District Attorney's Office, the Williamson County Sheriff's Office and the Williamson County Crime Scene Unit. Deputies from the Williamson County Precinct 4 Constable's Office assisted in the investigation and Jackson's detention, according to police.
