Garden City man killed in western Kansas crash
WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A Garden City man is dead after a crash in Hamilton County on Friday morning. The crash happened shortly after 9:40 a.m. on U.S. Highway 50, about 3 miles east of Coolidge and 5 miles east of the Kansas-Colorado state line. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2010 Nissan Frontier was traveling west on the highway when, for an unknown reason, it crossed the center line and sideswiped an eastbound 2008 Chevrolet Silverado. The Nissan continued southwest and hit a guardrail twice. The Chevrolet came to rest in the eastbound lane. The driver of the Nissan — Robert Arellano, 75, of Garden City — was pronounced dead at the scene. The two occupants of the other vehicle were not injured.
