Felon being pursued by Clackamas County deputies caused fatal 3-car crash on I-205, officials say
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A three-car crash has left one person dead after a speeding driver lost control and crashed into another vehicle in Clackamas County, authorities said. On Wednesday, just after 7 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to reports of a multi-car crash on Interstate 205 near milepost 6. The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office had been pursuing a white 2002 Lexus, trying to pull the driver over for speeding while heading south near West Linn, OSP said. The driver of the Lexus, 54-year-old Douglas Richard York of Crooked River Ranch, allegedly rear-ended a Volkswagen Golf, with the ensuing crash killing him. "The Lexus then lost control, rolled over, and York was ejected from the vehicle. York was subsequently struck by a gray Toyota Corolla," OSP said. York was later pronounced dead at the scene. He was later identified as the subject of a statewide felony warrant, OSP said. The section of I-205 where the crash happened was shut down for several hours while the investigation took place. The other drivers involved in the crash were the Volkswagen Golf driver, Christian Coerper of Oregon City, and the gray Toyota Corolla driver, Maya Shaw of Sherwood. It's unclear whether they were injured or what their condition is.
