Coroner’s report lists Delano custody death as accident, drug toxicity

The cause of death for the man who went unresponsive while in custody in Delano back in May was determined to be “Combined Drug Toxicity.” RELATED: Delano man who went unresponsive in custody dies, autopsy pending According to the Kern County Coroner’s Office report, on May 9, 2026, 36-year-old Andrew Joseph Francisco went unresponsive while in custody at Cecil Avenue and Kensington Street in Delano. The report said Francisco was taken to Adventist Health Delano, where he was pronounced dead at 3:42 p.m. The report said an autopsy was conducted, and the cause of death was determined to be a “Combined Drug Toxicity” and the manner of death is an accident. The report listed the “type of case” as an “accidental overdose.”
