Fatal UTV crash in Ohio: 14-year-old pronounced dead at the scene, another teen flown to Children’s Hospital
TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, OH (WTRF) — One minor was killed and another was injured in a UTV crash Monday afternoon in Tuscarawas County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Troopers with the New Philadelphia Post said the single-vehicle crash happened around 1:05 p.m. on June 30 on Township Road 203 in Clay Township. Investigators said a 2013 Polaris Ranger UTV carrying two 14-year-old children were traveling north on Township Road 203 when the driver attempted to negotiate a left curve in the roadway. The UTV traveled off the right side of the road, overturned and ejected both occupants. One of the teens were taken from the scene by EMS and flown by medical helicopter to Akron Children's Hospital. The other juvenile was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the highway patrol, neither kid was wearing a seat belt or helmet at the time of the crash. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Office, Arrowhead Joint Fire District, Uhrichsville Fire/EMS and the Tuscarawas County Coroner's Office. The crash remains under investigation.
