Fatal Interstate Collision Takes Lives of USC Student and Another Motorist

A tragic wrong-way crash on Interstate 385 in Laurens County resulted in the deaths of two individuals, including a University of South Carolina student. The incident occurred near the Highway 221 exit around 10:15 pm on Thursday. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a 2024 Subaru traveling south on I-385 was struck by a 2005 Nissan traveling north in the southbound lane. Both drivers, identified as 20-year-old Adriana Torres Lopez and 66-year-old Michael Cutshaw, lost their lives in the collision. Lopez, a junior studying psychology and art at the university, was from Simpsonville, while Cutshaw was from Marion, North Carolina.
