Fatal accident in Clay County claims life of Vermillion resident
A tragic two-car collision in Clay County, South Dakota, has resulted in the death of a 35-year-old individual from Vermillion. The incident occurred at the junction of SD 46 and SD 19, about two miles south of Centerville, on Friday morning around 8:14 a.m. The crash involved a 20-year-old driver from Harrisburg, who fortunately did not sustain any injuries. Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time. Reports indicate that the 20-year-old was operating a 2025 Ram and the 35-year-old was driving a 2011 Subaru. The Subaru, moving south on Highway 19, entered the intersection and collided with the westbound Ram on SD 46. Both vehicles came to a stop in the southwest ditch of the intersection. Authorities have clarified that all details shared by the South Dakota Highway Patrol are preliminary and that the investigation into the crash is ongoing. The identities of those involved have not been disclosed pending notification of their families.
