EMS responding to several incidents, including crashes and ocean rescue, resulting in multiple hospitalizations.
Last Wednesday, Jan. 21 was a hectic day for the Honolulu Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team, as they were involved in responding to numerous car accidents and an ocean rescue incident. One notable event occurred around 12:30 p.m. when EMS was called to the scene of a car crash near Lunalilo Home Road and Wailua Street, where a vehicle had hit a light post and overturned, resulting in a 27-year-old man sustaining serious head injuries. Later in the day, a 48-year-old man was found in critical condition after being rescued from the ocean close to Hilton Hawaiian Village. At approximately 3 p.m., a male swimmer was discovered not breathing in the water, prompting bystanders to administer CPR until Honolulu Ocean Safety and EMS arrived to take over. Finally, at 7:30 p.m., EMS responded to a multi-vehicle collision that left a 76-year-old woman, a 27-year-old man, and a 78-year-old man seriously injured. The incident involved a motorcyclist without a helmet and occupants in another vehicle, with EMS providing treatment while transporting them to the hospital.
