Elizabethtown DUI crash kills minor after car flips into flooded creek

Kentucky State Police are investigating a Hardin County crash that killed a minor, and left another with injuries.KSP responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash shortly before 9 p.m. in the 860 block of Bewley Hollow Road in Hardin County Saturday night. On scene, officers found a car flipped upside down in a flooded creek, with three people trapped inside. Police say the driver, 44-year-old David Rhodes, of Elizabethtown, was driving the car when he lost control of the car. Rhodes and two minors were trapped in the car. All three were successfully extracted from the car and taken to a local hospital for treatment. Rhode and one of the juveniles were treated for minor injuries and later released from the hospital. Police say the second minor suffered life-threatening injuries from the crash and died after being transferred to Norton Children's Hospital in Louisville.During the investigation, officers found Rhodes had been driving under the influence of alcohol during the crash. Rhodes was arrested and charged with DUI and first-degree assault.
