DUI arrest made after fatal motorcycle, SUV collision near Serene and Spencer
A 23-year-old motorcyclist was killed early Sunday in a crash at the intersection of East Serene Avenue and Spencer Street, Las Vegas police said. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded at about 1:47 a.m. to a fatal vehicle-versus-motorcycle collision. Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicated a 2025 Baodiao 10 Lines motorcycle, driven by the 23-year-old man, was traveling northbound on Spencer Street and entered the intersection with Serene Avenue from the left of the two northbound travel lanes. Police said a 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan made a left turn from eastbound Serene Avenue to Spencer Street against a red turn arrow signal. The crash occurred when the Volkswagen crossed the motorcycle’s path of travel. The motorcycle struck the left side of the Volkswagen, causing major damage to both vehicles. The motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials. The Volkswagen driver sustained minor injuries, showed signs of impairment, and was arrested on DUI-related charges, police said. The crash remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section. Police said the motorcyclist’s death marked the 64th traffic-related fatality in the department’s jurisdiction for 2026.
