Driver arrested after multi-car crash in Warwick
WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — A Lincoln man was arrested Saturday night in connection with a crash in Warwick. Around 9 p.m., police said they received a call from a woman saying that her ex-boyfriend, 36-year old Jared Parenteau, took her car without permission and was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. When officers tried to stop Parenteau, they said he kept driving, ran a red light at the intersection of Warwick Avenue and Post Road, then struck three other vehicles. No one was seriously hurt, police said, but the drivers and passengers from those vehicles were taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries. Parenteau was taken into custody shortly after. Police have not yet said what charges he is facing, but noted that he was wanted on outstanding felony domestic violence charges. The incident is still under investigation.
