Denver Firefighters Responding to Fuel Tanker Spill Post Fatal Accident

Denver firefighters are currently addressing a fuel spill that occurred near I-25 on Thursday afternoon after a fatal crash involving a tanker. The tanker started leaking fuel near I-25 and Yale Avenue at around 1 p.m. Firefighters are working to block the gutters and storm drains due to the large amount of runoff. The Denver Police Department reported that the tanker was the only vehicle involved in the crash, resulting in the driver's death. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the crash. While the spill caused a temporary closure on southbound I-25, it has since reopened. However, Yale Avenue remains closed in both directions, alongside the on and off ramps for the interstate. Thankfully, the spill has not impacted the light rail service running over the bridge. Officials recommend finding an alternative route for anyone traveling along Yale Avenue.
